I think the C owners might have something to say about entrusting their precious charges!

Next year I'd like the Endeavour Trophy to consist of a series of races to decide a top 2, where upon they get into the foiling C-Class cats from the "Little AC" and go for it, in a series of "best of 10" races, you can keep coverage of the first bit to some written blurb with a few photo's online, but the second bit should be filmed and streamed online at least.

... pointless having all this sailing talent around and never showing it off.

In the past nick has won enterprise, ok and rs400 in the same season, I live in Australia at the moment so I'm a bit out of touch with the uk scene I think Ruscoe I right though 'just' the merlin this year!

What two classes has Nick one this year then?  i thought he only won the Merlins? Did he Win the 4's as well?  He was very close to taking the D-One title, but got pipped by young Charlie Chandler.

My understanding is that the club has to work hard on this. Of course sometimes (particularly with Nick Craig) someone wins two nationals or more and picks which class to represent meaning the other class(es) don't get an entry.

Then classes with reasonable nationals entries 30+ are written to and invited. Sometimes classes pay the entry fee if their champion wants to sail (quite a few champions decline the invite). If the early replies suggest no enterprise, no rs400, no contender etc then other classes get the call

Of course I'm not a rcyc member so I don't know for sure but that's my understanding from sailing it in 07

They always aim for 25-28 entries which is what topper provide in terms of boats but results show sometimes not every entry is taken up

I personally think it's a great event and if I get the chance again I'm there :)

Makes sense.  Thanks.

What could possibly go wrong?

Yep I have to admit it whilst the xenon is an absolute dog to sail the concept of topper providing equally matched porta-loos which no-one races regularly is fantastic for the event and should be commended for ther intentions

Having to find a bandit quick ent or rs400 and then having to beat their national champion in his/her own class would have been a challenge in the old days!

I also think it's great that Topper and the RCYC still make this possible.  Well done to all involved and those who sailed.  Anyone who has sailed out of Burnham in windy weather will tell you it's quite a challenging location with gusts, shifts and tidal eddys to contend with.  To get 7 wins across the series really is something pretty damn special imnsho.
