No, not angry at all - it is just that we already have winners of the series' - and the sailor with most wins often picks up a wheelbarrow full of trophies at the dinner dance, anyway. The idea that he or she (or they, of course, in a doublehander) needs another trophy seems wrong, and to have a separate event means that the person with all the trophies might not be "club Champ". As PM says, maybe better to celebrate real achievement at the club.

I suppose this is because we only have handicap racing.

In a club with fleets, I can see that you could have an Endeavour style event to decide on a champ - that would be fun.

Apologies if my previous post came over as grumpy - wasn't supposed to be.

At SSC Points are calculated as follows:
Fleet average corrected finishing time/boat corrected time x 100.

60% races in Spring, Summer & Autumn AM Series to count.

This allows results in Fast and Medium Fleets to be combined and a club champion to be crowned.

We count overall results of all club PY race, excluding any with a turnout below a small threshold. One more than half to count over the main season(not winter series).
It works.
I think we have plenty of trophies at our club.
It's actually 'top helm', so you can count results from different boats.
If it encourages people to turn out to qualify, why would that be a bad thing?
Obviously making so many races count that it discourages going to open meetings would be wrong IMHO.

We have 11 fleets so have a endeavour style handicap race at the end of the season where only the top 3 or 4 in each fleet can compete.

Imagine the joy, spraying lesser mortals with a super large litre bottle of Babycham, drinking from the solid silver trophy, laurels on the noble head, feted by the alternates, it brings a quiver to ones manly lips and a tear to the eye, add, perhaps a slave to whisper in your finely sculptured ear that you are not a yet a god. In reality at my previous it was settled by one long race, on two occasions i won it (fluke) and by the time I had put my boat away and got to the prize giving, the trophies had been presented, the big one was back in the cabinet and there was some token offering left behind the bar and everybody had b-----ed off Wink

That's where I come in Wink  I understand these strange creatures and, strangly enough, both if the Icons I have taken orders for to date are ex Finn sailors Confused  Am currently talking to a National 12 sailor, an Enterprise sailor and and MPS sailor who have shown interest - any tips?  The Finn sailors I can handle Wink

Rodney, as an ex (or not so ex) Finn sailor and iconic sailor (soon to be), I've yet to be handled by you, and would rather not be. Can you tell me; is Babycham and being handled by you linked, and if I stay off the Babycham would I be safe Disapprove
I need to know such things before I venture across the border to Englandshire to sail. Are you all like that down there and is that why you all so enjoyed the Foddamites Open Meeting? LOL
