Maybe. We have a humphreys 30 now called Bada Bing.

A big projection.  Still miss the buzz though!

Hi all projectionists !

I am one of the new owners of the Projection 920 GBR9203R called Wee Bear in Hamble River.

We purchased her in may 2011 and had very good fun so far.
  • The previous owner did the following modifications:The chainplates are now fixed on the hull in order to avoid a "lifting deck issue" which is apparently common to Projections. As a consequence, we sail her with non overlapping jibs.
  • New bulkheads have been made also to solve the deck issue.
  • A bow sprit was made and we sail her asymetric. Our big kite is 80mē.

Our current rating is 0.991.

We have managed to get 19 knots off her in double handed.



For your information, we occasionnaly race against the Projection 762 GBR7631 Funtastic rating 0.940.

Hello Bebert, Apologies but I haven't been able to respond until recently.
 
As you may have already guessed, most of the (mostly) P762 owners who have contributed in the past have moved on to other boats. We have stuck with our Projection GBR7636R 'Hobbes' which we have now owned for six years. In the interim many of the others have been sold on to new owners in Germany, where there appears to be a flourishing class on the Lakes. There are two of us here on the Forth in Scotland, the other one being 'Pink Gin'.
 
Pink Gin's current owner Duncan sent us photos of 'Wee Bear' when he was working down south, so we are aware of her - although the huge sprit must be a relatively recent addition. It looks great, although I don't fancy having a spear that size when approaching the windward mark in a group of boats. I hope your rivals stay clear!
 
We have contemplated a fixed sprit on our boat too, but probably something a little shorter...
 
You may know more of the history of your boat than we do, but rumour has it that only four 920s were ever completed (debatable) and 'Wee Bear' was formerly a Clyde boat sailing under the name of 'Tartan Revolution' before moving to Carrick Fergus in Ireland under her current name. One of our recent crew members also crewed on a 920 when he was based in the south coast, but the name escapes me.

that sprit looks a bit Ker like! very nice though, can you sail to the rating?

We where four up, in a blow with a 3 - 4m swell, no. 4 jib, reef in main and just surfed down a wave. went off like a rocket, i have a picture of the gps screen somewhere with the max speed shown.

With regret we are selling Filthy Gorgeous. Too much time spent doing ISORA on J109 means no time to sail in Pwllheli. 
Brand new Goacher main and jib last year which have only been used for a few weekends. IRC 0.965 - endorsed 2012 certificate.  She's been dry sailed for the last 2 years and is ready to race.
Anyone in Abersoch fancy giving Miles a challenge?

Just bought Projection 762 from Guernsey called "Crumpet" if anybody knows the boat. We are very excited after sailing quarter tonners. Hoping this thread is still alive and to find some other Projection owners out there. We are based in Jersey and look forward to find any tips after the hours of reading through this...if you can help me?

Happy to hear that Crumpet is in good hands!
We still race 'Hobbes' GBR7636R from Port Edgar in Scotland, where 'Pink Gin' is also based. We have owned our boat for over six years and we are still having fun.
The thread is the repository of nearly everything pertaining to the P762, so if you can bear it I recommend that you read all 78 pages... Well, skip some, but you'll find some interesting stuff there.

I spy another Projection about to be rescued from the weeds at the back of the boat park. 

Indeed spied now at West Mersea; will Quiet Tango be ducking and diving with Bananaman or is she destined for even further shores? From what I saw she is going to need not a little TLC and hard work not to mention a little bit of cash to restore her to her former self. Good luck to the new owner, it will be worth it .
