Hi Craig,

Delighted to hear there's another 762 in Scotland...  You'll be part of an elite group, with you that makes the grand total of 3!

The third is 'Pink Gin', also based at Port Edgar and owned by our friend Duncan. I can put you in touch if you like, but Duncan has been working abroad for most of this season so we haven't seen much of Pink Gin, however he's now back for a while and will be racing her till late December when our season ends. Hobbes was craned out in September, I've been banned from sailing by my doctors until the new season, but for next year we have plans to do as much on the west as we can afford.

Kip and Scottish Series almost certainly, IRC event depends on whether or not the cupboard is bare by then...

Maybe you'd like to bring over the new Wildebeest to the Forth for an event later in the season - it might be possible to have all three 762's in one spot!

Chic,

Thanks for the reply. We're picking the boat up in a few weeks time and it's booked into the big shed at Fairlie for winter and will emerge in late March/early April. However, if there are any crewing spots on Pink Gin/Hobbes in the interim I would happily make myself available (07890 261 145).

Craig,

Is she going green over the winter???

I won't be putting Hobbes back in till March, however Duncan is still sailing. I'll pass your number on to him. I know that you have a busy schedule for next season but you'd be welcome to do some sailing with us next year... There's a fair amount of knowledge that we could pass on to you that took us a while to work out - it's not a difficult boat to sail but it does have some foibles.

Hi,

Yes, continuing with the lurid green graphics but the green jackets may go for next season.

Keep me posted on the sailing, you've got my number so ring/text whenever.

I'll let you know when the boat arrives.

No problem Craig, I'll get in touch in the new year. In the meantime I'll pass on your number to Duncan.

Brys, as the originator of the thread I'm sure that you of all people should know every Projection 762 foible personally... Anyway, you're a K6 sailor now so you wouldn't benefit even if I told you!

Aw Chic, You are teasing us by going all shy and coy.

My worst was taking the mast head fitting out (it literally exploded!) at 17Knots in a force 6-7 with the kite up sailing into the back of a wave. (albeit with 6 big lad on board as well as myself!Although we did not actually broach up, the loads just were too much....anyhow that was sorted by Z spars who had a spare, the mast was not really damaged, we shaved about a centimeter off the top to give a nice fit for the new casting and through bolted it rather than relying on pop rivets as the origional. Never went down the mine as such although we did fill the cockpit with green foamy water more than once.  I guess the best tip is not to waggle that tiller more than you have to. Trimming to steer is the best policy, if you can get your team to do this you can keep out of trouble and go fairly fast.

So 'The Big Purple' 7620 is now in Scotland after a slightly epic trip from Largs to Falmouth and back to collect her over the weekend.
She's now in the big shed at Fairlie Quay awaiting a bit of a refurb and a rebranding to 'The Wildebeest 2'. Roll on the start of the season!!
