It's all gone quiet on the P762 front.  Does anyone have any stories, sails on order, plans for 2010 or IRC optimisation thoughts?

Hi Garth et al, We're hoping to take Hobbes to the west coast of Scotland
this year for a few months with the intention of doing the bigger regattas
there in what will be mainly new waters for us.. Then back here (the Forth)
for East Coast Week and our local regattas. All this has been prompted by
new committed crew members - I'm learning that fun is mainly due to
who you sail with regularly! Latterly we've been much faster. Early last
season was a bit of a nightmare for finding regular crew and adversely
affected our performance. Not planning any more sail purchases, I spent
far too much last year - I have modded the carbon main to improve fit
and get every last horsepower out of it, but the 140% genoa and No3 are
already spot-on. Still faffing around with how to best gybe the assymetric
that was designed never to be gybed... and might try Doug's pulpit
method. Although it's small (42sqm) our assymetric introduced a new
level of fun into breezy reaching, with 15knots pretty commonplace. As a
dinghy sailor I reckon it's taken me three seasons to become a reasonable
keelboat driver... Mark, if you fancy a trip to Scotland you're welcome...

Does anyone have their IRC Rating for 2010 yet and has there been any movement downwards?

Hi All

Yes, I have had the 2010 ticket.

Last year after full endorsement (weighing and full measure) my rating came down from .968 to .954. (We have 140% genny, a small main and the boat is a heavy one.  Apparantly an older and diffrent keel (think its fatter).

This year I have bought a new kite 47m2, as opposed to the old kite of 40.55m2.  Trial handicap suggested a hike up to .959, which I thought would be worth it.  So had the kite built and received my ticket at .956 - a pleasant surprise.

My Boat (ex Nemo) is quite early so dont know if its age allowance kicking in??  Maybe all the PJ's will all come down this year??

We are doing scottish series at Tarbert this year.  Anyone up for it?? Im going in on IRCthough, just dont believe we are a sportsboat!  Plan was/is then to stay on the trailer and head to Cork week, unless you guys have any suggestions??

Still sailing, but had a month off.  We were untouchable for a while, but have started to slip sown the pan - a bit weird, but thats yachting!.

Anyone wants to see my ticket just email me - andy@bluepointconstruction.co.uk

Cheerio

F-word - we're doing the Scottish Series... Haven't redone our IRC certificate yet so I haven't a clue what we are this year, but at .969 last year with much the same kit as you I don't think it'll be close racing! We found it tough last year coping with our handicap, Hobbes was one of the last 762's made and after £300 to get her weighed turned out to be only 12Kg overweight... We're hopefully going to do Kip regatta 2 weeks before.

F-Word, our 2010 rating has come back one point lower at 0.963 despite increasing the kite from 46 to 48 sqm, so I guess there must be a useful age allowance kicking-in for P762s.

We weighed in 40kg heavier at the end of 2009 (not RORC loadcell) so will get an official re-weigh in the spring.  From your experience how many kgs do you reckeon are needed to drop .001 point in IRC.
