Garth,

Cheers, the kite has been fantastic so far this season, very impressed with what we can do with it actually.  Had it up in 30+knots and on some tight reaching all without any problems.  My crew managed to put a hole in it and the begining of the last race during burnham week, which was annoying having to use the smaller old kite on a foul tide run for 2 hours which stuffed our position.

cant wait for the autumn series, like you for the gales! will hopefully put some smiles on the crews faces and some decent results on the board.

I've been having crew shortages the latter part of this season .... we have our last race weekend coming up , lots more wind again no doubt .

I've sadly been looking at bigger cruiser racers recently  as I plan to get some time off and sail north to explore scotland .

This means my beloved Filthy G may well be for sale ... having two yachts won't work . She has lots of new sails and gear etc ...  in good nick , had a few grazes in her time but nothing serious .

I can be contacted on 077 944 395 34 if anyone is interested .

Hi All

We all are guilty of going quiet.  Hopefully we have all been busy enjoying our P762's.  We sailed ours from Liverpool to Holyhead (70miles) as mentioned.  Downhill all the way.  Then took to Ireland (Dun Laoghrie Regatta) by water!.  Didnt do to bad in our first major event.  Was 11th out of 28ish, had a 5th and 6th on a windy day.  Lots of Corby's.  Probably did have the upper hand on the majority but the top Irish boys we couldnt touch. They point so high, intersestingly we also hurt a corby 26 and the lesser 25's in the lighter stuff??.   One particular dry sailed J80 also thrashed us.

Delivered home to Liverpool.  What a trip (had mother ship accompanying).  124 miles in 16 hours.  No3 and old main and two crew  Planed all night, cooked, slept, and felt fine on arrival.  We were doing 11 knots for hours and North of  Anglesey were hitting 14knots SOG with the tide.  Boat was so well behaved and we averaged 7.8 knots! It was quite surreal, felt like TV pics of Open 60's or Volvo boats when helming at night.

Then we went to Abersoch Keelboat week and had a stinker.  Fifths at best Eights at worst out of 11.  Windy and rough, but the boat wasnt set up right.  Had her out for 5 weeks and just relaunched.  First race Sunday wernt ready really and on a 19 mile course had  a great win, beat all the big boys, Primas, J's, Sigmas.

Have ordered a Goacher No 2.  Happy frostbiting.  Lets get some 762's together next year.  We will be happy to go South or SE.

Andy

DOUGk911, shame your selling the boat, hope the sale goes well.  If i hear of anyone wanting a 762 i'll point them your way.

F word, sounds like youve had a very adventerous season, nice to hear some offshore sailing is being done by a 762.  what percentage is your new no2 going to be?

ive got some plans for PJ but need to do some measuring up first.

PJ

I wont lie.  Dont know.  I'm leaving up to Mr Goacher.  He usually does the business.

Had a lovely race Saturday with beginners, no kites and got a second.  Sunday the crew went "sick" and it blew old boots.  Down the pan I'm afraid, if only we had had some more hands,  33 knots of breeze for a while.  We can now at least keep her going uphill in this type of weather (6knots ish).  N03 and a reef.  Downhill, jesus I love it!!  However on the beat the main just flaps, even with a reef in.

Have discovered I have spent the best part of my first year with the rig too stiff.  Am really working forestay now before races and am setting at 20mm in light up to 45mm - 50mm in heavy.  Really helps keep it in the groove.

Sorry, Forgot.  Whilst stepping mast I accidently crunched a block on the up stroke (we step by hand always now, just 2 of us).  This has damaged the alloy casting lug i.e. bottom of the rig.  WHilst its safe enough when up I would like a new one.  Any ideas anyone.  Is it straight to Z spars??
