I think they were joking, it was hard to tell among the hoots of ridiculing laughter being directed at us from everybody who saw it happen (most of the club)

Yeh goin back and readin all of those makes me think of some realy amusing ones, (hehe this is where i start to embaras my m8s)

1) Cadet Europeans, CZECH REP. my friend un packed his boat and found out that he had left his rudder all the way back in summy essex!!!!!! still hasnt lived that one down.

2).. the usual leaving kit at events I think i have left 2 cadet covers at ONE event!!! thats some good going..

3) One realy bad set of fotos, i had not rigged my spini properly so got my novice crew to helm and untied the haliard, then proceded to stand on the fore deck facing backwards holding onto the mast, with the haliard in my hand above my head,, all this time the crew kept moving the tiller and nearly throwing me in. Also the angle the photos were taken at it looks slightly like pole dancing, so they decided to put them up on the wall for everyone to see......

We had quite an embaressing moment @ our club regatta last year, there wasnt much wind and we were close tacking up the shoreline 2 stay out of a very strong tidal stream, we were heading towards the beach right in front of the clubhouse where every1 was watching, prepared ourselves for a very professional looking roll tack, started to roll the boat, and promptly ran aground, the resulting deceleration meant that i ended up face down in the bottom of the boat and my crew took an involuntary jump over the side! fortunatly, he was able to push the boat off and get back in, meaning all we lost was our pride, although somebody did accuse us of illegal propulsion.

Very good idea i must say, My friends did a similar but slightly more nasty one at the world that they were at. They used to do two boat timed runs, one from each end of the start line and the other countries started to pick up onthis so they used to intentionaly fix the outcomes on most of them so that others watching would pick the wrong end.

And my most embarsing moment... wel ther have been lots but the funniest was when i sailed a friends lark and capsized but wasnt used to a metal centerplate and decided to accidentaly use it as a spring board, we (me, my crew and the rescue crew) were laughing so hard that we couldnt get the boat up!!!

personal favourite was a trick played on the people we were training with, my crew used to call the time to start really loud and we knew people around us listened to him as well, so he intentionally called the time 15 seconds early so the guys around us went, taking everyone with them. Leaving only us on the line alone as the only people not over.

This was all on camera and we thought it was gonna be funny in the video debrief but the coach forgot that he had recalled everyone so he just slated us for starting late thought we had some kind of issue with starting. Humiliation in front of my freinds rather than getting to be smug.....

Love the run at Mudeford - especially in a 4 - 5 in Laser 2 with the kite up going against the current...
