I'm not sure - Pete (600) came 6th overall last year and i think was top ten the year before.  Steve Nics is his home lake too.  I think it depends upon the wind conditions - enough breeze for him to wire offwind and he'll be there or there abouts

The series scoring system is flawed if you are in a smaller fleet at somewhere like the Stevie Nick of GGP, the assy fleet as an example is smaller and as such you score more points even if you win your respective fleet.  My money would be on a Phantom, Merlin handicap has had a big kicking!  Can't see anything faster than a Merlin winning the whole series to be honest.

'Skiff' moth refers to 'pointy bow boat shape' compared to the 'Scow' moth shaped like a door.  Tongue

I like the 600, and appreciate the heritage (was there the day it was 'drawn' up on the quay at RSWSC) but it ain't no skiff, anymore than a modern Moth is... take the point about the <well sailed> MPS winning two races as well... I was commenting on the overall results.

Its interesting that the Laser, Osprey and Scorpions got in there amongst the 'usual suspects' ; MR, Phantom, 505.  All great boats and un-doubtably, well sailed, as were the others who figured with race wins.  It will be interesting to see how this develops, for now my money would be on a MR or Phantom to scoop the series win, although conditions may come into play and allow a skiff to get into the mix further down the line.

Sounds like a good sail was had by many, if not all, shame to have missed it, spent the whole w'end feeling wrotten courtesy of some nasty bug or other.
Suprised we haven't had the traditional winter rant by *** yet about 'lack of progress in dinghy design' ... top 10 made up of RS600, MR, Phantom, Laser, Osprey, 505 and Scorpions... I see there were some skiffs (sorry, don't subscribe to the view that the RS600 is one) but they obviously didn't figure overall, and the flying moths were a bit 'sub-optimal' as well over the w'end
