Well Canon for my stlye of use the "old" was better because it listed the entire months events in one go as entered in by the clubs or class`s rather then pick & chose for you.
So my vote goe`s to the "old" stlye of calender over the "new".
Thank you

I am sure the Y&Y Team changed the calendar for good reasons and good intentions but the fact is the old calendar as it was was much more user friendly, probably not a good idea to call it the old calendar because normally something which is new is normally better !!! as an option would it be really that difficult to have both.
Where there many negative comments regarding the calendar as it was which made someone decide to change it, I don`t remember seeing any threads about it. A good rule of thumb is if its not broke don`t try to fix it.
![]() I am sure there will be many who will run in defence of the decision to change it but I just enjoyed the way it was. Edited by canon - 24 Feb 11 at 6:26pm |

Yes Mags,
Your email responses have been very quick and clear. Unfortunately, the new calendar is just much harder for clubs to administer than the old one and we have less control over how our events are displayed to competitors. My vote is still to put the old calendar back. |

Hi John, I hope my earlier email has alleviated your concerns and explained why we do things the way we do.

Please can we have the old calendar back?
It actually had a useful calendar you could easily look at. And it was so much more user friendly for clubs to edit the details of their open meetings. |

Oh hi Mike! Forgotton your old password I take it?
There is a way for you to see every single calendar event, though it is not really advertised. You can try the 'feeds' we supply (usually restricted to one club or class). The particular links below will list everything: RSS feed HTML simple list |

I used the old calendar to identify sailing events month by month (Not specific to class) scheduled in my area with a view to attending not for sailing but for sailing event photography !!! I am sure you can you understand how the old calendar worked for this purpose.

Yup, you are eligible for the QM events! They are 'open'; non-club-members can enter for a single day for a fee. I admit that there are a lot of similar club events that are filling up the lists somewhat. It is a shame the other Wayfarer fleet-racing events are not listed yet - I will try to pester the class secretary! Whilst it requires their effort to add events to the calendar (well, they can always email me a spreadsheet) we hope that the publicity they get in return is worth it for the class. When you select a class it shows the entered details for that class there is a checkbox at the topwhich then includes "handicap" events you can apparently turn up to. There does seem to be rather a lot and I'm not sure I'm really invited to turn up to the QM Spring series! (Try the Wayfarer class calendar (1 event so far) to see what I mean. |

Like some other things - sailing is more enjoyable when you do it with someone else
