Your Level 2 PB course can get you an ICC which is valid either for Inland or Coastal depending on where you do it. If you do not have a Level 2 PB cert, you can do a CEVNI practical test along with the theoretical test. This is not equivalent to a Level 2 PB cert The CEVNI is totally separate and if you use a boat in Europe, you will need to do one. If your CEVNI was done in the UK, it is only valid if you use a UK registered boat in Europe. Some countries will not recognise a UK cert on a non-UK registered boat (ie hired) and will make you take another CEVNI test for their country. No prizes for guessing which ones! I think im totally confuzled now!!!!!
when i did my powerboat2 i was given a form type thing to fill out whch says 'international certificate of competance' i was told that if its filled out and sent to RYA you pay about £34 and get certificate back for using boats etc abroad?!?!?!?! Help!!!!!!!!! |

Not really. The ICC is an international certificate and the CEVNI is a European certicate. See my previous reply to get an idea as to the diffference. If you do a CEVNI in the UK it will only apply to a UK registered boat  whilst you are abroad. Yes, I know this is the EU and we are harmonised and everything but not quite on everythingI would suggest that you do a CEVNI only if you really need to  |

I think you mean the CEVNI test which covers the rules and regulations of the European inland waterways. Further details can be found on the RYA site. Caution - not all EU countries use exactly the same rules even though they have signed up to the standards! But then, what's new in Europe? Edited by Phat Bouy |
