Thank you - I feel educated, and ready to take to the slopes!

nose and tail presses- pretty basic freestyle trick, made even simpler by a reverse camber (or rockered) board, especially a soft one.

butter - another ground trick, an edge to edge transition from regular to switch riding.  Looks pretty cool when dialled, and fairly functional too if you're running out of piste.

Boards which are pressy/buttery tend to be either flat rocker or reverse camber, and usually quite soft to make the above- and advanced versions of the above easier. They are typically slow boards which don't make great boards from dropping down pistes- the ride can be a bit 'squirrelly'.  Think Topper- dead downwind in a F6 on the sea... suddenly all that flex they are so famed for stops 'absorbing inaccurate steering' as an amazing beach boat should and becomes a f*cking liability that'll see you in the pss!

Yes there was. Rich wanted a D-1 and I needed something to sail short term.
It hasn't quite worked out that way for me, however, as the depressed nature of the Phantom market has encouraged a couple of larger Laser sailors at the club to defect.

Thank god for that, I thought you were giving d-ones away there. Well if any of the other larger people need another one I have one too that that could purchase (not swap unless there is something good on offer)
Everything I say is my opinion, honest

I used to learn Judo, so I know what you mean - but super pressy/buttery?

all sports have it- try learning Martial Arts, it has a deeply traditional approach to language and cultural customs.

FWIW - there are two principals technologies for mounting bindings on a snowboard (excluding split boards and alpine boards which are very specialised).  The industry standard is the 4 hole mount- it's been standardised to make things easier for consumers, promotes competition etc.  The there's the new Burton tech (EST) which has been around about 5 years now and is beginning to be licensed to other board manufacturers.

Standardisation is great.... now take a look a the chain plates and clevice pins around your dinghy park... wtf is that all about?

The Superhero is a lovely all-mountain freestyle board- highly recommended; the Hate is too soft and for park rats... avoid, unless of course you want something super pressy / buttery for a dome/jib park.

Both are Channel Set EST binding systems, so unless you've got, or want to get, Burton ESTs, they're not massively compatible with other standard 4 hole bindings out there, and conversion plates suck imho.

Let me know if you want piccies....

And people think sailing is made less accessible with mumbo jumbo - at least we have the excuse of history!

you're a week ahead of me.... 30th.  I now need to shift some of my crap- 2 snowboard decks that I was waiting for Dec to ebay, a drysuit, two wetsuits that are barely used, a 4.4m Goya wave sail, a couple of old quiver bags and christ knows what 'fixtures and fittings' I've got between two, or is it three old tool boxes.  Might as well get shot of the trailer board and my pintle mast support too.....

I might have to re-join that Facebook Group Russ and I started.  Ebay fees are almost as usury as stamp duty...

without going too far off topic, which boards have you got?

I didn't know that it was possible for Contender sailors to be lawyers?
