God what have you missed while you were away....free love at Weymouth and a haze of funny smoke (just like the 60's....remember?) and "grab a granny night" at CVRDA over hot chocolate!
We're not all grannies yet Tick and it certainly wasn't chocolate in my glass! Hunts was an excellent event - well done Nessa & Nikky and team.

Compared to a self catered Club the Cafeteria was a bit pricey and the bar was generic & sometimes closed early. However the social is really made by the mates you go with and the people you meet and not the venue. The best evenings are sometimes had sitting around the boot of a car with some beer and fish n chips.

As a racing venue how and why would you fault it.

Loads of boat parking near the water.
Easy launching.
Very handy wash down stations.
Short walk between water, boat park/rigging, changing rooms, briefing room, cafeteria and even the motorhome/car parking was an easy walk away.
The rooms at Portland House are large and well equipped.
For those in Vans & Motorhomes the site was well lit and the toilets were easily available all night.

It is what it is.

Fish n Chips in Portland were good as was the Pizza Oven. I never had to resort to Maccy D for food, did it once in my life nuff said.

One thing I did notice all over the weekend was that there always seemed to be youth groups doing some activity or other and that has to be a good thing in my book.

Trick is to sail there and then head off to The Cove (short walk away) for refreshment. Having said that, Castle COve is a great club, the other side of Portland Harbour - finest balcony anywhere!

Hmm what have I missed here?
One event on dodgy water surrounded & hosted by a club with the atmosphere of a 70's multi-storey bent on starving muslims, or the other with wood bothering coffin dodgers drinking warm soapy water they laughingly call beer and not even doing the decent thing to keep warm..

Glad I was in the Fatherland

'Fraid not, Nessa - the Contender misses out as being too new a design, oddly. Mind, if an event was contacted, it would be up to the organizers.

Horses for courses, if I had the right boat I'm sure I would have enjoyed it. My Saturday evening boat is a scabby old Contender with a tin rig, do you think it'll ever become classic or vintage?

when was it built?  pre 1985 and it already classifies within the 'old' wing.

Yep, nice water, but the place has all the atmosphere of a 1970s concrete multi storey car park.

... and with CCSC around the corner...

when I windsurf there I tend to sail out of ferrybridge rather than the sailing centre/OTC.
