Agreed.  Disaster for sailing representation at the games.

2016 might be interesting!  Plan for 2 cats in the ollies!

Wanna learn to Ski - PM me..

What a shame and on a personal note... what am I going to do for the next four years! (At least I did the Radial this year rather than sailing the Tornado hoping it was going to come back in...)

I don't know.. After all multihulls isn't really sailing is it?

Makes a change for 'dumbing down' to be reversed.

Now they just need to get rid of that ludicrous Finn thing, bin the 470 and
bring the sport up to date.

Cats just encourage idiots on the water that shouldn't be there, a bit like Jet
Skis.. imv.

Perhaps this will cause a "root & branch" review of the Olympic classes for 2016 and we will see some state of the art craft on the water to represent the pinnacle of our sport rather than the relics we have now ...

So the question would be.

What should replace the Finn? & 470.

The D1? or the MPS?

and the 470?

Shame the Alto hasn't got any legs under it class wise, it would make a good
single trap replacement and could be sailed in all conditions.

I dunno what classes we should have; the subject has rather been done to death but at least I'd like to see something modern that looks interesting to non-sailors to give our sport some profile; most of my non-sailing mates have no idea what a sailing boat looks like and their perception is of somthing like a GP14 ... when I show them a picture of the me sailing the Musto they think that looks great and even somthing they may find exciting to do ...

Just remember back to the interest in Boardmans Lotus bike created in the Barca' Olympics.

Sailing boats designed in 1911 can't be right ...

Dam,n good points guys, My non sailing mates think that i am a bit 'light on my feet sailing' and i should of stuck at playing football.  The olympic classes  (to the general public) dumb down our sport and do it no real favours.  Chris Boardmans bike is a decent example Rick.  I say replace the finn with the Musto, just to encourage some new blood in our sport if nothing else

But Rick, Boardman's bike is *exactly* like the current Finn - fundamantally antiquated design, radical development prohibited by the rules, yet said antiquated design optimised as far as possible by the latest technology...
