So Jay Glaser has designed a Code Zero asymmetric for Mitch Booth!

I wonder how it's going to work downhill though? I think they'll make bis losses downwind to the other Tornado's because they won't generate enough apparent to get the wind forward enough for the sail to drive. But will their losses downwind be less than their gains upwind? I guess we'll see.

This is going to be really interesting! I wonder if this will catch on and maybe spread into other classes.

[edit] Someone thought of this 3yrs ago!

Great idea; I guess now the cat is out the bag they will be testing to see ...

Are they limited to one set of sails for the regatta? if so I doubt they will actually use it ...

There is of course nothing new, and upwind capable kites used to be found in various antipodean classes, Cherubs for example, back in the 60s.

You will note I say *used* to be found. You lost out downwind horrendously. I reckon its a head game. I should be astonished if the gold medal winner used one...

If they have worked so hard to keep this sail a secret (as the press release says they have) they why have they told the world now (with a press release!) when they could have revealed it at the last minute?!

It's got to be a mind game of sorts...

Could well be but it's hard to keep these things secret so perhaps they figured they'd make a release as it was spotted already ...

Who is old enough to remember Rodney Pattison have an electronic wind angle instrument on his FD prior to the Keil Olympics? Caused a major storm in a D Cup, but came to nowt as he didn't use it during the games but the fuss it stirred up 'might' have caused some stress amongst his competition

I guess that's what you get for sailing a development class.
