Hartley (as far as I know) are fully prepped to build you a boat now, carbonology will be in a few weeks if not now and there are a number of builders who would hapily build you a cherub with as much or as little design imput from you as you wish...

If there is demand, boats will be built... mass production will only come from mass demand.

This is great! I am in no rush. Will wait and order when the demand is there. I am still hoping larger production volumes will push the prices a little lower. Thanks for all of the input on this thread. Not much more to discuss really.

The prices are rediculously low aready when you think about what you aregetting for 6995, take a look around and a lot of similar (and i use that term very loosely cherub enthusiasts) are priced a lot lot higher for a package that is in no means superior and is infact more dated than the cherub option.

I agree. The problem is when you get into the one off international shipment business you typically see prices going up significantly. Did I mention I don't live in the UK? What I'm hoping is that one of these firms might get the big ticket and start pushing x number of kits to countries around the world.

I'd bet that increased demand will push the prices a bit higher as the builders seek a slightly more reasonable margin. That looks a lot like a "special introductory price" to me and if I were you I'd get it while its gettable.

Dont hold your breath, how many 49ers are built in a year? Not sure you can
call many sailing boats "mass produced". A 12' skiff for women? not sure the
builder of that will retire earlier to his (or her) holidy home in the Caribbean.
