Its looks like an early fibreglass one , not a prototype, thats how early ones were made we had one briefly for nippers sail no 2727 rare to make thousands of protos !

Some folk thought they would be quick with modern rig as hull stiffer and lighter.

 

Who nose ????

Nope. The Topper was an established class - if not especially popular - for some time before the injection moulding happened. So it is a pukka production boat. The injection mouling was a changeto an existing class, not a brand new boat.

Well it's a bit different to a Topper but on the theme of old boats winning races, Sunstone was built in 1964, had a highly successful career in RORC racing in the 80s and 90s, including 5 class wins in the Fastnet, and was a member of the winning England Commodore's Cup team in 1996, since when she has been blue-water cruising worldwide.
