you need an A rig mast section only mate.  Put a note on the 300 message board and swap the b rig mast and sail for an a rig, there is bound to be someone that will swap.  How heavy are you??

300 is a great boat, you won't be disported!  Which 300 did you buy? sail no??

feva sailer are you aware that you can reef the b rig as it does have reefing points on the main i dont know of anyone who has done it so i cant say how good it is.i did see an a rig 300 for sale the other day i think it was on apollo duck i think.

as merlinboy say its a great boat to sail so much fun...

Not got one as of yet still shopping around for one.

Its for when I cant be on the 29er and the feva is being sailed by my brother and his buddies.

Its also for my brother to grow into when i move on to the world of work and so on.

I'm 60KG so i know I'm on the light side but I'm quite athletic  so i like hiking.

I know the B rig does reef but Id prefer an full A rig to having a permanently reefed B rig.

If i bought a 2nd hand B rig boat id probably use it for the drifting days but A rig for when there's a breeze on.

I would have liked a 600 but restricted water's mean the 300 is the fastest boat I could get away with.

Anyway thanks for the help and will start pricing up.

So far i found you only save between £1000-£2000 by the time you get it ready for sailing.

Makes you wonder if its worth spending that much extra for the new boat because this will be raced by me and then by my brother when he's big enough.

But that will depend on funding and money isn't exactly plentiful at the moment.

I would surgest to you that you buy an A rig 300 because they are cheaper in the first instance,However they seem to be thin on the ground,These two are B rigs & are on appollduck & none on the 300.org site

http://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.co.uk/display.phtml?aid=94 712 :- this may be for sale but he said that he may keep it.

http://sailingdinghies.apolloduck.co.uk/display.phtml?aid=94 709 :- this one`s in guersery so if you go for this one be serious about it!

http://www.rs-association.com/index.asp?fleet=RS300&sele ction=For%20Sale  & this 1 on the RS site rig size unknown.

Good luck & happy sailing

the A rigs isn't just a 'reefed' B rig it is a flatter cut sail as well.

also the mast sections are never always the same as the 'cut' for the 2 sections can be in different places per mast(i borrowed a mast and the top section of that one didn't fit my bottom section and same for the other way round)

Yes you would Defiantly need a A rig if you intended to race on the curcuit because you have to be 75Kg? or above to race with a B.

( I stand corrected )

bert, i believe that rule was thrown out the window... as Tom Moore on here is only 70kg(?) and raced at the 300 nats with a b rig

right, the Arig is a flatter cut but not much smaller in actual area. the mast is about a foot shorter though. to be honest there is nothing wrong with getting a B rig at 65kg. ian smith is somewhere around that weight and will still beat me no problem. the rules about weight and different rigs has been scrapped. to be honest i was 65kg when i got the boat and struggled to begin with. then i got used to how it should be handled and could sail it in more breeze. i have put about 5kg on over the last 6months and with the extra experience (most important thing in this boat) can sail it much better than i could a year ago.

the top link posted is actually my boat advertised. not expecting anything like that amount for it in the current financial situation so if your interested make me an offer.

tbh if you were to get a B rig and then decide a few months down the line that it was too much i know of a few people out there who are hoping to trade up. best bet is just to get a boat first (not easy to come by)

any more questions then feel free to pm me at any time
