Single handing any trapeze boat with both the main and genika flying and out on the trapeze, you need to have the genika sheet with you, but what is the best option for the main sheet? Do you just cleat it and leave it in the boat, cleat it and take it with you, or just hang on to it with the genika sheet. Is there any best practice that has found to be work over the years. I just cannot seem to get it flowing and what happens when you are on the wire and need to dump the main if you don't have the sheet with you. Any hints and tips would be appreciated.

I've tried the extra arm option, but people kept staring at me, so had it removed

If you have the kite up and are blasting you don't need to adjust the main so leave it cleated.

I have a hook on my harness that I run the tail of the sheet through so I can ease the main prior to the drop (and gybe if it is windy).

What class are you sailing?

I play the Kite with my front hand and use the tiller handindex fingers if its more than an arm full, The main sometimes I adjust with the kite in the front hand. With both sheets in one hand you can let one slide through fingers or pull both in together untill you hit the sweep spot. but mostly cleat the main and keep slack sheet in the rear hand thumb with tiller extension in dagger grip. I have a take up elastic for the end of the main sheet.

Some people have a clip on elastic on there harness for an extra hand but I would by worried of not making it past the rig on a pitch pole if I was tied in.

You can cleat the main and leave it in the boat less to think aboat, good if you are gybing alot but its not great when you have to avoid another boat and need to ditch the main sail. I thick its best to keep the sheet with you

To pick the main sheet up if its in the boat just bare away step in and pick it up uncleat and ease if needed. Beware of going slow with the main in the centre you will get blown over.

What class do you sail.

When you get used to it you will have time to try and spot the ball(Leeward mark)as you apparent wind direction does not change much.

These days I'm trying various boats, I've come from a 505/Osprey/symmetric background and most of this year I've been sailing various asymetric boats from Feva's to Varios to Visions and others to get used to an asymetric. I own a Buzz and sail with my son or daughter, but frequently take it out on my own these days. Hopefully once I feel its all coming toether, then the next step will be to move onto something either like an RS700/Musto skiff, or go the two handed trapeze route....we'll see how it all works out!

At times I've been out on the wire with the Kite up; with the main sheet and the traveller (and playing all three); but I do have a slightly more stable platform !

on most boats the main acts as a backstay with the kite up and there foreshould not be adjusted !

just think about single handedcats there is the spinny, main, and traveler!

lifes to short to sail slow boats!

It may be worth pointing out, that the buzz is not ergonomially designed for signeltrapezing, so the layout may make things slightly awkward at times, just dont be put off too much by it.
