Shared meetings are good for all participating classes.   As a class we do quite a number each year though these tend to be with non-asymetric ones to ensure fewer 'interactions' downwind.   There is no such thing as 'best' boat amongst these three, all are quite different and suit different styles of sailing - enjoy whatever you like but just go sailing.

As for which is 'king' - this misses the point as wind speed is the key factor.  If its 0-10mph it should really be a straight 300/Phantom fight - above that and that 'bandit' that is the Blaze will be ripping !  So here's hoping for a bit of breeze then ....

And if anyone is brave enough to lend their boat to a good looking Int 14 teenager then I'm sure that BBSCFaithfull would also come out to play.

Hoping to be there dics, family and boat permitting!

Each to their own ..... I've raced all three and owned both 300's and Blazes.  'Ugly' is really in the eye of the beholder and to be kind the  300 you have to say at best its a bit 'querky' - and in a retro 70's Moth style as well !    Thinking about it  the Blaze is a great looking boat compared to the EPS or 300.  And as for 'slow' - its all relative - after all a proper modern Moth with or without hydrofoils makes the 300 look a bit 'wantabe' as well.

A non-foiling moth sails off 990 and a 300 off 1000. Not really enough to make a 300 look 'wannabe'. As for looks, well the 300 gets a lot of positive comments from people new to dinghy sailing. It's certainly an eye catching innovative shape. As you say, each to their own.

Personally I don't think there's much to compare - the 300 is a different beast to the Blaze, which is probably more similar to the EPS than anything else. The 300 is pretty much unique.

From a personal perspective, I really enjoy the challenge of sailing the 300 in all conditions, but there seems to be a feeling that it's uncontrollable in a big wind. Not so - it's absolutely hilarious fun and personally, I find it easier to sail than a Laser when it's really howling. None of us had any major problems at Filey yesterday when it was a solid F5 with 3-4 foot waves! I cannot think of another boat that would have been as much fun as the 300 was yesterday.

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital
ingredient in beer.

I am lazy and I don't like swimming but like going fast hence the choice of the 'bed' as it has become known.

Just to add my 2p as a recent convert to the class....

When I was looking to replace my Laser with something a little more exciting the Blaze didnt even figure until I gave it a close inspection (from a suggestion on here).

Yes it is not the best looking boat in the world but the looks have grown on me and I now think it is a very nice looking boat as well as surprisingly easy to sail. It was blowing a steady 5-6 gusting 7 yesterday. Most boats stayed firmly tied down on shore. I went out, wiped the floor with the rest of the fleet that went out (I only went over once) and came in. Admittedly I was knackered. There were a fair few people on sure who commented that the boat looked stable and 'easy to sail' as well as going like a train.

The trick is to get back far enough when going offwind otherwise nose diving does occur. Once you have done that the boat has surprisingly few vices. I admit I didn't gybe yesterday, but then again I didn't need to as everyone else was was upside down (Laser graveyard on the run).

I'm not sure too many would want a 300 in bed or anywhere else either ..... but its mostly a free world out there and each to their own.  And on the water our zimmer frame Blaze's can still embarrass most 300's for some of the time and many of them all of the time ! (I'd rather go back to a Laser than a 300 !) - Insults aside I  do like the 300 over the EPS but now greatly prefer the Blaze.
