Why cant you just go and join Restrongeut with your 300, and trail it down with you when you go back to uni ?

I used to chuck my Laser on the roof of my dads car in Sept when I started the academic year and then Id do the same to get it back in the summer. Could normally find crewing positions in the Christmas and Easter hols and all was rosy!

i wish my uni did team racing. it would be good to get such a depth of knowledge in the rules that this gives.
they are hell bent on avoiding dinghy sailing all together. they then f**cked me off when i offered to try and organise something with restronguet club (who have many very experienced and talented firefly teams) simply because i was a fresher. did kind of put them to shame when i went the the bucs event though on my own because none of them 'could make it'.

their 'sailing' constitutes of a few hours a week spent on a J24 producing a 1st and 2nd sailing team with 2 spare bodies. these 12people share the single J24 for training and then go to events, hire 2(!!!!) J80's to match race  what is with that????

After the covering/slowing down antics of the summer, I wish I had done some team racing.  Those tactics are really useful when results are tight.
the same, but different...

Jon: if I recall correctly, he's of to Falmouth- they may not have a team, as a smaller, multi-campus institution.

I think this is probably the best option. When I was at Uni I had very little time to sail anyway!

Just one point why do you not get involved in Team racing? It is one of my favourite areas of the sport and I still do several events a year Smile.

I know its a steal....it needs a tiny bit of work but at that price i dont care!!

That was my problem, they all seemed to be over 5 grand so i put an advert up lookin for a cheap lowrider that may be able to be converted in the future and this guy approached me saying he had a lowrider that he had converted but may be willing to part with his foils!

You just gotta look

£2200 is a steal for a foiling moth! im contemplating
having a go in one sometime this year to see if i can do
it. (they offer a pay for their petrol money only and
get a free trial deal at velociraptor HQ apparently so
its very tempting to ring up).

problem is the cheapest moths ive seen ar £5k and
upwards and im a poor student.
