"Don't knock boat insurance guys. my car insurance is cheaper than the boat, but....... I'm not going to get a new car if I break it beyond repair!!!!!

I am getting a new mast for my 49er though "

You will get all of your money back for what tyou paid for the car within the first 3 years of ownership if you have a gap policy.

If you can afford a new car though i guess. Not sure they'd let me have that sort of policy on my 10 year old escort.

2 things,

As Tim says that only counts on new cars ! and mine isn't new

my mast costs more than some cars and the premium reflects that!

you get what you pay for in my opinion.

It's not the cheapest but it is the easiest and least hassle insurance company i have dealt with and we need insurance to cover lots of things .... what if you hurt someone?then there's the other boat, just lots of things.

Oh and my boats not new either.

No it doesnt only work with new cars, i think it is for cars upto 5 years old. and lasts for 3 years.  thats right your mast will cost more then some cars but look at wehat the premiums are to the value of the boat! and do the same for a resonably priced car for instance renault clio £7000 insurance £250.  Then look at the risk, a car is driven everyday.  and think how many more cars there are on the roads.

The only arguement i can see for boat insurance premiums is that most dinghys are used for racing.

I would never go for the chepest quote on any insurance policy, you do get what you pay for.  I have had dealings with nobel and they where great, but i found them to exspenive to renew myu policy so in the end i went with bishop skinner.

This will never sell at that price. Also the seller needs a bit of a lesson on how to market his boat.

Guess what - it did not sell.

Now I am after some help. There is a mystery mast in our storage hut at the club which has very little rigging on it. It is made of carbon and has spreaders and what looks like diamond shrouds. I cannot see very clearly as it was tied up in the roof behind another mast. There is no foot on the mast and it looks like iut has only one halyard.

I suspect it may be from a RS600 but as we have none in the club I cannot compare it.

The club may be willing to sell it (stands back and waits for rush of Cherub sailors) but don't know what it could be worth. Any offers???

If it's in alright condition and you think the offer is reasonable we'll give you £100 for it. We'll be going sailing tomorrow anyway so could pop in on the way back. Right height to be used for a phantom/contender/cherub(i hope) mast
