bah tom was bound to win!!! going to have to put him back in his place when i next see him... he's been sailing since he was about 3 he only weighs in at around 4 stone and there was no wind!! I doubt he'll come on here but tom you can have your ps2 game back nxt time i see you.

Back to the thread i'd seriously consider a 97 rules cherub then as you grow/get used to the boat you can upgrade it to 2005 rules

29er, definitely, whilst you're still light enough.  You might do some swimming at first and it might be tough above force 4 but it's a great and cool looking yoof boat.

29er xx probably does preform badly but I've heard it performs pretty well!

Skip the 405, heavy, underpowered, old.

420 worse, time travelled from the 50s by the look of it; to be sailed in cork block bouyancy aids and thick sweaters only.

As for you Strawberry, fallen out of a tree?   Woss that mean then?  I think my lad is quite good looking - but I'm an ignorant pr&*k (remember) so what would I know.

I have only heard very good reports about the 29er X from the guys who have sailed it. But the most important piece of advice before buying a boat has to be... try all the options than go for the one which you enjoyed best!

Have seen the 29er X being sailed in force 5 conditions at the Hoo Freezer ealier this year and it outpaces RS800s so i dont think the term "perform very badly" can be associated with this boat.
