I'm sure the youths and light weights know what they really want.  Just go and get your hands on a 29er.  They are a technically advanced and sophisticated boat, plus they will stand the test of time.

agreed. the rs500 frankly looks boring and uninspiring. this is just my first impression when i look at it. having said that being rs virtually guarantees it will be well specified and well thought out....

Chris - try a Vareo!  You may lose the sensation of being about to collapse the rig, but it goes a hell of a lot faster than the Feva!

the rs500 is a nice enough boat i looked at it at the london boat show it is really just a steping stone between feva and then going to a bigger boat like a 29er !!! but i think if u confident enough go for the 29er straight away!

I agree, it seems to be really a transition boat.  Looks okay though - better than the Vago (sorry any Vago owners).  I think it lacks imagination though and is really just an RS equivalent of the laser 3k.  And are you the Bruce that sails with Dan Henderson??

No offence taken, as per my earlier post, if I just wanted to sail two up the RS500 looks good against the Vago.

Can someone please enlighten me (and perhaps others on the same wave length as me)...

Why oh why?  do all manufacturers think we need to have a yellow assymetric kite on their latest designs?

Is it it a fact that Hyde (who seem to be the main provider of these sickly yellow rags) have a factory that manufactures the raw sail cloth somewhere where labour costs are the lowest cost element in the manufacturing equation?

What new design boat launched in the last 5 years has NOT had the obligatory yellow kite? (or for that matter horrible dayglo patches randomly stuck all over the place to give  the cheap mylar mainsail or jib product a faux "HI-Tech" look (and therfore be able to charge more for an inferior product!)

What ever happened to all the other colours of sailcloth?

Never enough time for sailing

..... er - what about the Topper Xenon ?  They have a BLACK sail and that is probably a Hyde one as well.  Therefore sickly YELLOW must be a favorite colour at RS - Discuss !!

If you put up the cash for one this weekend I'm sure you could have any colour you liked. Do you want a hand down from your soapbox or can you manage?
