Yes, they did have shorties on under the boardies, but its a tradition for those guys to sail the winter in shorts + tshirt!

With the 29er flogging works, we used to "flog once" to get the rudder back, just let it go and sheet it back in straight away (oversheet) then let it back out to the position you had it in before. Worked ok for us but I guess it varies from boat to boat. Not tried it in the 49er yet because whenever I am out when its windy I am either in the water or when the gust comes I am

Doesn't help having a million different crews!

Brie and Bacon baguets are the best I have worked out, feels you up, tastes good and is comparatively cheap to other stuff there.. But I don't think they were serving them at the Tiger. They seem to lower the quality because of demand

I think that you shouldn't be aloud out in shorties etc. in that temp/weather, it is dangerous! I spent loads of time swimming in a wet suit this weekend and i was in trouble at one point! I'm also fairly well lined unlike those 2 skinny lads!!

aye- some clubs (King George for one) do have rules against that level of stupidity. Some of the B14 crews were regretting 3mm wetsuits- I was just warm enough in a 5mm.

People at my old club used to laugh at me when I sailed a laser for wearing only my rooster hikers and a spray top in the winter but I really hate wearing a dry suit although I have one, but find them really restricting.

for me its a much more practical reason. MOENY. £200 for a drysuit will get me lots of other sailing kit, bits, fuel to go to other events. i got given matching shortie and full wetsuit by my uncle and have my hikers, rashies etc etc. ill live without the drysuit (would be nice when running championships though) but a bit restrictive when you need the toilet

i think a lot of the time its fine not to wear a lot of kit especially if your in a very physically demanding boat as its only when sitting around at starts/ when in the water when you would get cold.

I wear a dry suit or boiler anyway during winter months but i  wear boardies and rash vest until late October, sometimes a shortie wetsuit underneath, then back to the same May time, March - April 3mm wetsuit.

Must have to admit, when sailing a Laser in a drysuit, when its windy and cold, its so restricting, I perform badly.

When out in a wetsuit or hikers, it provides more fredom.

So the Drysuit is for slower or Rib duties ATM.

There is no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes. If you haven’t got the wrong clothes then you will be alright. Sounds like a lot of people need to review what they wear when they sail and sort it out.
