the centre main just gives you an all round better feeling of control of a topper, and thus much much more confidence, and no body has ever converted back to rear sheeted, you should definetly go for it

TheSeaFalcon, I sailed a proper new topper with centre main the other week, I'm 12.5 stone and it was about F3 and it really flew for a a topper! I club race a laser full rig, they're such awful boats, the rig bends which in my view ins't good, all that power going to waste! I normall sail cherubs, N12 and merlins. Much better boats! But toppers are brilliant fun, you can drive them into other toppers and they don't break! Wa hoo!
Needs to sail more...

Cheers chris, that's v v v useful!! I think i'll get to know the kit first, but it's always better to learn how to upgrade when the time's right!!!

if you are pretty small you might want to consider the new 6:1 downhaul, you dont need to buy a whole new system either, its just the old world style 1 with an extra clock at the top providing a cascade effect so the mod. will cost bout £8 to do really less if you dont want top spec kit

Lol im sure you'll be fine !

Im pretty sure you will get some decnt wind soon! the last three topper training's have all been done in white horses !!!

Try and come down to the next topper training if you can, they normally hire a professional coach.

Whats ur name by the way?

Tell me how it goes with the new sail, b.n.s!!! Hope you have a great time, an don't fall in !! Not saying you're inexperienced!!! I agree with everyone so there's no point in me putting quotes, cos as they say "practise makes perfect" (yawwwn hehehe)!!!

lemeouttahere, that's a very interesting history to the name, mine just appeared out of nowhere 1 (fine, summers) day!!! haha

Hey chris, despite being very complicated, I actually understand what your sailing jargon means (round of applause for me here ), I've got the racing downhaul and the mainsheet block (is that a rachet?) and i can't wait to get out in proper wind to use them...mind you I could come back very, very wet!! haha!

i second that motion, you can be told all sorts of things but the best way to learn them is to sail and discover how they work your self
