We are pleased with the response the site has received, from the marine trade, and the support of Yachts and Yachting, but most importantly, sailors in general, in reporting tip-offs to us and colleagues at other insurance companies.

It is only by working together that we can combat theft.  I just wish that there was more we could do to fight the mindless idiots who cause the vandalism described earlier in this thread.

Jonathan

The Laser 2000 that you see was stolen and recovered on the same day, was an interesting case involving the boat being advertised on Ebay without the owner's knowledge.  To cut a long story short, someone saw the advert, contacted the Class Association who in turn, contacted the owner who was able to take action to get the boat back again.

At the same time, we were contacted by a potential purchaser, who thought the deal looked too good to be true.  We were also able to contact the legitimate owner, and forewarn the buyer not to transfer the money.

An excellent case for belonging to your Class Association and also for checking out a boat's history, before you part with your hard-earned cash.

The problem is that its very hard for the police to catch them as its in the middle of know where, so what can we do to protect our boats and our clubs.
