Think the shallow area was to one side, it was a bit hard to tell from the shore exactly what was where. All credit to the race team for the job they did over the weekend, but I think their one major mistake was trying to run the races on the Winner in the conditions.

One 800 bust their bowsprit on the sunday, though that was just tube failure rather than hitting the bottom. He said it's not the first he's had go since he got the new version of the boat.

i was in the 29er fleet and 6 top sections broke and a mast was ruined...

personally .. my top section exploded

best fun of my life

On Saturday, the 800's were racing just off of Winner, I would estimate it to be about 10 feet off . However, you could quite clearly see the breaking waves on the bank - although this didn't deter people from launching off the beach and sailing straight over it. Crowd pleasing yes, but I imagine not for the sailors.
