Seems to me that boat is very quick! And has a ridiculously light daggerboard that I nearly caber(sp) tossed into draycote water by accident!

Actually this is something we are looking at, at Tynemouth, how do we not ignore new members.  It is the easiest thing to appear cleaky to a newcomer to any club, this is twice as bad for newcomers to the sport. So it what is becoming a disturbing trend GRF has made another good point
I might be sailing it, but it's still sh**e!

At the tiny club I go to (Broadwater) we get a key to the main gate and the combination code for the lock on the clubhouse, an introduction pack, a newsletter and a membership card.

At the club I belong to in Somerset (Wimbleball) we just get a sticker for the boat if we keep it in the boat park and the combination for the padlock on the main gate.

I've just joined Datchet for the winter but haven't had anything yet - I think they are in hibernation!

You'll definately be put on the duty list, sailing club secretaries very often struggle to allocate duties fairly without making the same people do several a year so new members especially in a smaller club are often pressed into service.

It's a good way to meet people and learn how the club works, and get introduced to racing, so don't worry about it too much
