I'd vote for Largo Bay where we had our Nationals this year. THere are some rocks, but they are well marked and there is a nice big gap to get in. I don't remember any serious waves when launching. The moths were managing just fine which is a great advert.

The club was very friendly, very well organised, we had fabulous social events, lots of camping nearby and plenty of room on the beach for rigging.

Herne Bay in Kent. Simple tidal system, excellent organisation (including Beach crew to get you out of the water quickly if the waves/wind get up) and it's in the nice bit of Kent between the Medway and Thanet. I grew up there so could be biased but the Albacore (90+) Lark (100+) and Europe (80+) fleets all had major champs there and loved it.

Abersoch in N Wales is good, big courses in Cardigan Bay, protected launching, great little holiday village, but I think you need to book several years in advance

Pwthelli, just down the coast might be an option, but is possibly more oriented towards big boats and the town has less 'charm'

Largs is crap to sail at. Tenby or New Quay in Wales get my vote. Largo Bay is the best place i have ever sailed, go there, it's great and the people are so friendly!

Easy launching was a must... not sure about the rocks and apparent 'swell' though...

Good place for training. Crap for a championship venue as you are constantly messing about in stupidly tidal water or shipping channels!

I'd agree on Mount's Bay...really nice and you might get a tour of the Mount and meet that bloke off The Fast Show.

Great pasty shop too!
