and of course, there is an element of brand dillution for the original boat when you factor in the Laser 4.7 and Radial which also have had or have their own campaigns- are they Laser '1's or is it just another example of the 'versatility' buzzword that haunts dinghy advertising?

So long as it doesnt become the laser skiff, im happy...

That is a classified and I guess they have done that for clarity.

Have a look at p22 of the latest Y&Yand the Laser website ... I think it is clear that the product name is Laser, but they have created confusion with the classified.

Product naming is a tricky business when a whole range evolves from a hot product ...

In this case I believe the product name is Laser and not Laser 1.

Rick

Just to raise this point seems Laser don't use the product name Laser 1 as far as I can see ... it's still the good 'ol Laser.

See. http://www.lasersailing.com/ and have a look at the range ...

This is also backed up in recent print ad's I have seen. Although it does get called the Olympic Laser in places ...

So ... there is not a Laser 1 in the range ... it's a Laser

true, but then h's kind of proving your point...Hey Feva_Kid, in answer to your question:<br style="font-style: italic;"><span style="font-style: italic;">'would any of you like to be ikn my position right now?'</span>Well I have to be honest my answer is 'no'.  The thought of returning to those days of end-of-year exams, fluffy top-lip facial hair &  uncontrollable arousal in the most uninspiring of scenarios would fill me with dread.  But then there are lots of other things for you to look forward to as well before you hit the grand old age of 21 and from what I can see you have it made mate: 1) Your living in a foreign country which is hot all year round- sail in shorts and t-shirt every day; go the beach and learn to kitesurf / windsurf whilst checking out the bikini-clad trophy wives of the uber-rich and generally not have the day-to-day monotony of a teenger confined to say, a small market town in Lincolnshire.   2) You're obviously going to be fairly well travelled and I would imagine the educational standards for ex-pats in Dubai is of a very high standard- both will ensure your UCAS application will probably be quite well recieved in a few years<!-- Signature -->3) You have a laser- now okay I'm not their greatest fan, but in 2 knots of wind and with a 14 year old flyweight on the stick you should be relatively competitive.  Now unfortunately you have forgotten the sail number for said Laser, which is a bit of bind when it comes to say signing on or off.  Therefore, as long as no one else objects; I reckon the sailing community would be more than happy for you to adopt a new sail number; something that's easy to remember- I would propose a reassignment of Laser sail number "1".  In fact feva_kid, why not reinvent yourself on the forum with a new name: Laser_1 would be ideal; give yourself a week or two off posting for your alter-ego to fade away and come back as Laser_1 a new member with thoughtful, well researched prose into the comings and goings of the sailing world.  It would be a great metamorphosis- like a fly, buzzing with energy emerging from the rotting pupa of a little maggot.

ok i wont make a new user but will try to make my spelling better and not post stupid posts.please pm me if you spot a stupid post from now on and i will remove it.
