My opinion I reckon ISAF will go with the RYA plus Tornado and Yngling, but I suppose alot will depend on the lobbying in the chambers of powers.

Maybe so, but if someone came to you with a request for sponsorship for a Tornado campaign, would you be as inclinded to provide money based on the possibility of the Tornado maybe being in the Olympics ?

I think not.

IMO the RYA proposal may have killed stone dead any chance of any of the current teams getting any new sponsorship until this is resolved - getting sponsorship is hard enough without the RYA making it more difficult.  Thanks RYA.

thats my guess too....especially as these two classes fit their published criteria well re. excitement [tornado] and women [yngling]

Shame the tornado is sooo expensive and takes a long time to master the technicalities. Look at the ages of the crews at the top ...hardly an incentive for youngsters to get involved.

Im with you on this Scooby...the only shining light if you can call it that is that the meeting is in November and thankfully for the teams that have sponsorship their deals are done.

Its a real ba***rd to us all and I don't think you can just limit it to the Ts. Think the RYA have hit cat sailors chances for sponsorship back 2-3 years. And theres me looking for a sponsor for the next year!!!

Thats also why it is probably the most important thing to have a fully structured Youth policy. One that takes youths through the steps and teaches them properly so they can hit the floor running...HENCE A YOUTH CAT.

IMO a 16 then an F18 then the Tornado, a logical progression. However not above recommending sailing skiff type boats and boards as well. We MUST remember we are all part of the same sport and we CAN all learn from each other.

Next we need, Hagara, Lovell Ogletree, Ellen Macarthur... I'll send more email to them

Just out of interest but I would say for the none sailing public Tornados is one of the most exciting boats to watch race (after 49ers) and Ynglings one of the least. Based on the difference in speed when things are going well/badly...
