Urm not really so worried about the money available when getting rid of the boats, it is the money that needs to be spent to race them competitively!

Agreed, which is why perhaps a discussion on the specific boat might make sense rather than a decision on the class as a whole (with no APPARENT discussion).

I personally like the spectacle and skill required of the Tornado but Hurricane SX/F18 or similar  would surely be a similar cost to campaign as the 49er and therefore more acceptable?

However the general running costs of the Tornado aren't that disimilar to that of the F18. Complete suit of sails approx F18 £2,300 tornado £2,900 bear in mind the difference in size of spinnaker and jib

A bit off subject but I think the Tornado is the best choice for Olympic cat, due to it's performance.

The Hobie boys must feel a bit sick, sitting in all those meetings with the RYA not knowing that all the time they were being stabbed in the back!!!"

The rabbit hole gets deeper and deeper.

Good news, 450 signatures and counting!

I think what is happening here is that cat sailors have been mis-treated for many years, but we have put up with it as the anti cat movement never really caused much harm. Now that the anti cat movement has gone a step too far the catamaran community is up in arms.

I hope the RYA finally see the amount of cat sailors and cat sailing that is going on in the UK as we have been kind of seen as the ugly relative of dinghy sailing and covered up.

lifes to short to sail slow boats!

One of the suggestions on the petition is to form a Cat Sailors Association. Perhaps this is something that we should be looking into. Maybe a properly formed association would have a voice and be able to put forward ideas to RYA and make the RYA listen.....

"Out of chaos comes order." Nietzche "

RYA has created it , we can form the new "order"

Sign me up !

A UK cat sailing association could be the focus we all need , I'm sure it wouldn't cost much and I'm sure manufacturers/importers would be more than happy to support such a body
