Grafham started their Wednesday evening racing last week, and Hunts a little before that.  I didn't race last Wednesday due to not having a starter motor in my car, and I'm not racing this Wednesday because there is chuff all wind.

Who out there is racing on a Wednesday, or is it considered not worth the hassle because it is usually pretty light?

  • Alton Water's Summer racing is on a Monday evening
  • Grafham is Wednesday evening
  • Hythe is Thursday evening

That just leaves Tuesday and Friday evening to sort out + an open or club racing at the weekend - sorted LOL

I'm knackered just thinking of that schedule !

Wednesday evenings are a lot of hassle. Rush to get there, usually no wind, gets dark quickly and swarms of mosquitos!!
I don't suffer from insanity...I enjoy every moment of it.

We race Boards on Tuesday evening, and are slowly encouraging dinghy
guys to take it up, but the transfer is a lot more difficult from dinghy to
board racing.

Having switched to sea sailing for weekends, and being without my own boat, I was actually looking for somewhere easily accesible (I lack a car, too!) for weeknight sailing- looked at Cam SC's site, thinking that although the stretch of water is somewhat limited, membership is cheap, club boats free to hire and it is nice and quick to get to from Cambridge. But no. Nothing.

I also looked at Cam SC but was put off by it being on a river.  Can you not get to St Ives and sail at Hunts?
