What usually happens when you join a sailing club?

Is there normally an induction pack, club member number etc. etc.?

It depends on the club i would suspect, at our club you get your dinghy park, key and membership number as well as a seasonal magazine!  Which informs you of events, social events etc. etc.

At our club you get a car windscreen sticker, membership card, boat sticker and a gate key and the latest newsletter plus a welcome letter from either the membership secretary or the commodore (can't remember)

some clubs do new members evenings so you can meet the people that run the place and also meet up with the other members of the club.
as well as keys,(club depending)
most clubs you have to pay extra to store your boat in the club boatpark
and you may have to do a few duties a year aswell (rescue boat, bar?, Galley, and working partys)

That's amazing you all get given keys! We don't get given anything, car window sticker, that's about it.

We have to pay a deposit for the key, but we get the upgrade key free on return of the old one if they ever upgrade the locks

you have to pay a depost for our keys as well, bu we dont have a joining fee and family memebrship is only £55 i think plus £25 for dinghy park! You also get free training for your kids! great value!

You'll definately be put on the duty list, sailing club secretaries very often struggle to allocate duties fairly without making the same people do several a year so new members especially in a smaller club are often pressed into service.

It's a good way to meet people and learn how the club works, and get introduced to racing, so don't worry about it too much
