yeh my crew hurt me quite bad. we had a fully battened main and a very light wind day. when we tacked the battens didnt pop so with him telling me he grabed the boom and pulled it as hard as he could, and my head connected with the boom quite nicely

My crew used to beat me with the jib stick when I started getting too grumpy in competitive situations. I sail a singlehander now as I used to respond by dropping the mainsheet when her head was near the kicker... |

Not all chemicals are bad. Without chemicals such as hydrogen and
oxygen, for example, there would be no way to make water, a vital ingredient in beer. |

This is an old classic! The other is the crew elbowing the helm doing the spin hoist Helms this is how you get your own back (some may only apply to skiffs): 1. When you pitchpole be sure to use the crew as a cushion by sandwiching them between you and the mast. Much less painful this way. 2. and my fave, when you are both sitting in, in light winds pull the trapeze towards you, aim at the back of the unsuspecting crew's head and release! The effect is immediate. 3. Not really painful, but abuse the crew for a slow hoist while standing on the spin halyard on the cockpit floor. Edited by m_liddell |

No, but I hurt the crew often....... But he is a good sport and takes it. We have had his fingerst down to flesh towards the end of regattas and put them back together with electrical tape, put the goves over the top and he is right to hoist the kite again After the invention of Bow Sprits (no more spinnaker poles in the head), the skipper can feel pretty safe at the back of the boat now. |
