I think I am right in saying that the low position of the hounds of the international 14s was so that the mast could be broken down to fit inside the boat so it could travel by train.
I also remember an 14 meeting in Santander where they didn't take any cars, pulling the boats on and off the ferry by hand |

The nine hour trip is one thing, the 3 changes something else again. Trains are now push-me-pull-you that could never take a baggage car. A baggage car might take 2 boats at best (mine's going on top then) An alternative, Motorail was closed down over its huge losses but also used to leave your car filthy from diesel exhaust. That's not gonna work either. Trains are not the answer. I suspect farm machinery will continue with ICE long after cars. So we should convoy tractors to an event or two. The battery cars stuck behind would expire after 40-50 miles and then common sense might be resumed ![]() |

505 and FD probably professional sailors or sports people rather than 'bling' sailors, forgot about the 'man' needed with each Merlin, need someone to launch and recover.

Only "Merlins" have the kudos to be delivered in this way, probably towed by Bentleys.

Yes, it is, and not just one model either now. Some Other super car manufacturers have done the same. Do we have equivalent Super-dinghy manufacturers?

Wasn't ot Ferrari who brought out a car for track days which they then kept, and would bring to each meet? Maybe a model for Merlin sailors?
