You can get a perfectly respectable Lark for under £2k I sold mine a coupla years ago in that price bracket. Having seen RS200's vs Larks on a restricted piece of water - the RS never sails to its handicap (& do they moan or what?), while the Lark can, and does. Its all down to the downwind angles, and the fact that the RS can't get the benefit from its assymetric kite. Crew-weight wise, there's not much to choose between them. 20-23 st but the Lark is a bit sensitive to weight in the front. |

Yeah, im liking the look of the lark, the scorpion is pretty similar, anyone got any idea on the weight range? Seems to be a fair few for sale up north as well which is pretty handy! Anyone know anything about it?

Scoprpion - my favourite hiking boat! At 18 -19 stone you are in the weight range for a scorpion and on the lighter side of average. You should be able to get a secondhand boat for £2000 - decent for racing. A new one will cost a bit more than that. I'd say it's worth making sure (don't know how exactly!) that the crew is average height rather than very very tall as the front end is reasonably nice and snug on a calm day. Yep the tasar is an excellent bet for a small sailing lake with shifty winds for teenagers! Great in light winds and when it is blowing you will eat RS200s round the course. Really fun to get planing up wind with a very comfy hiking deck! |

Scorpion is ideal for 18-19 stone. But you need to get one with adjustable rake as this is the key to controlling the power when you are at the light end of the weight range. Should be do-able with a budget of £2k. Have fun.
