We had a pursuit race too, I did surprising well despite fluffing the start when I was the only boat on the line (not as bad as the Phantom sailor who was giving me grief then sailed himself over  ).

Pursuit next Wednesday too but I am working so wont be there.

This Wednesday at Burghfield we had 70 boats racing  with nine different classes in the top ten, including an Optimist. Last season we were regularly in the 70s

The personal handicap system makes it all a bit non-serious, but after a full working day who wants serious anyway? I'm just happy to get on the water, and then get a beer in the bar.

Of those top 10, one was a current Natioanl Champion, and another is sailing in his first season. Just to show the personal handicap is doing what it is intended to do!

I am not allowed to sail at the moment due to having an infection of the inner ear....

just come back from wednesday sailing.15 boats out in a nasty wind (gusty force 3-5 with 45% degree shifts) 12 boats went swimming at some point, 10 made it round., all enjoyed the bar afterwards.

I didnt swim andI dont know how we survived as my burton week crew got her first experience of what a N12 feels like when it nose dives and the forestay dissapears beneath a foot of water.

that is her measurement as I was too busy running backwards to try to get the thing back above the water.

We had 20 boats out last night at HOAC/Queensmead SC. Of these 5 had crews who had never sailed before, ever!

Once exams are over for the younger members, racing will peek to about 30. this is a lot as HOAC is the same size as BLYM.

Good turnout at Hunts last night.  I managed not to sign on and not to know the course, nor really when I was starting.  Not that it mattered.  I'm still experimenting with the MOGO and tightened the rig up too much for the conditions, so I couldn't point and the sail just kept stalling.

A certain forum member barged his way to the front with his unfairly big rig and then proceeded to hog the lead till the finish....well done Paul, she says begrudgingly...
