yeah it's true i was going to the loo a bit more often than usual! But it was quite easy to drink that much in a day.  Just while watching match of the day in the evening i'd just keep on getting more water just for something to do! i'd end up drinking over 10 big cups of water in about 1 hour!

How on earth did you manage to drink 20 litres a day?! If you weren't actually drinking you must have bee in the loo...

I was told to drink more fruit juice a while when I was swimming back because I was dehydrating myself on just water. I suppose its the same sort of idea

isn't that because water is acctually a diuretic (dilutes your blood), you need sodium and sugar and stuff to be able to absorb it into your blood stream efficently

as a cox for my school rowing club, i have heard my coaches go on for hours and hours about how important being hydrated is. recently, they have even said that in order to be properly hydrated, we should have two water bottles: one big (1-1.5litres) for water and one smaller (500-750ml) for an isotonic drink ie: lucozade sport, or isostar.

Thanks to Ray Mears for that one

Indeed, the idea is that on a long hot day your drink remains cold for longer...

I can imagine that being true. This may be the reason most people wait for it to melt before ingesting it...
