This was a different boat with a different insurance company, and it was my dad's policy anyway. Edited by m_liddell |

I'm not aware of any company offering a third party and theft cover, but most will offer a third party only option.
£300 to insure a 14 valued at £800, sounds high to me. Our premium would be £187.19, although we wouldn't recommend insuring the boat like this for such a low value as a new mast or spinnaker is going to cost more than that. Our premium for a Int 14 valued at £15000 would be £561.59.
I can only assume that your insurance company have increased your premium due to this and perhaps other claims you have made recently. Have you checked this with them?

All comprehensive dinghy policies provided by Noble Marine, include New For Old cover for any part of the rig, damaged beyond repair, irrespective of the equipment's age at the time of loss. There is a possibility that the mast could be repaired, but if not, we'll pay for the new one. |

Hi,
Price is £2400 ono and it's based in Cheshire. Email me for pics at: p.s. I suspect the days of the cheap 600 have quite rightly been and gone. They are brilliant boats and represent excellent value for money, hence the recent resurgence in the class.

Thats funny. My premium with Noble is £354, for my RS800. And it supposedly has the old-for-new policy. I don't know at what point this policy allows me the right to a new mast? But when my current one is 6 years old and has snapped for a third time, am I right in thinking that I am? No, don't be daft. In no way am I aiming this directly at you. Just having a rant. |

The latest on the foils was that Full Force and/or LDC would only look at putting them into production if they could be fitted very easily to existing boats and removed easily too. At the moment the boat requires a fair bit of surgery to accept foils and once converted, it is no longer a 600. The opinion at the AGM was that foiling 600's as a racing class would not be welcome, after all why fragment an already small fleet? There was concern for the long term health of the class too, at the moment there are supply issues with new boats and if all the old, cheap ones are snapped up by people who want to convert them to foils, where do newcomers to the class get a boat from?

i keep checking, www.boatsandoutboards.co.uk, Y&Y classifieds and http://www.apolloduck.co.uk/ although you could always go on the rs600 yahoo group and ask if anyone is planning on selling their's.
I found a very cheap one (750 pounds) from just chatting to people on the scottish skiff circuit and the yahoo group, the guy wasn't trying to sell it but was happy to let it go. The bargs' are there you just need to look hard, and make sure people know your looking! |

I am also in the process of getting a 600. I have showed interest in a few boats but if your not quick to get down and have a look, they go. The one fergus was talking about in the Y&Y classifieds i think has gone as i rung the bloke on sunday and said a guy was coming to see it on monday, and at just over a grand it was probabley snapped up.
