Smelly boots

   er....... My Mate who sails Sat, Sun, Tues and Thurs at the moment has got really smelly dinghy boots, They never seem to get a chance to dry out. Have any of you fine people got a remedy for this as his car is starting to whiff too!!

	i have never found my boots to smell if they are constantly being used, i normally get smelly boots if they are left for abit of time wet. Whatg sort of smell is it is it more of a wet suit smell or a bad feet smell?

	I had same problem ages ago....... Try a few pumps of anti bact hand wash in each boot, leave to soak in bucket of water....rinse well or you will have foaming feet!

	I find a cold water rinse after every sail works wonders (I use the machine at home, slow spin of your boots fall apart after a while). Once the smell is there though it is a nightmare to get rid of!

	My boots smell of roses but if you do suffer washing them with Milton does seem to do the job. I would not use detergents of any sort as you feet will slide around inside the boot for ages ... Rick

	"Value" pine disenfectant from a well known supermarket does the trick - about 30p for half a season's worth of washes!! Some people have more sensitive skin than others, so might not be able to, but I don't limit this to the boots - it works just as well with wetsuits and gloves. Doesn't seem to do any harm to the sailing kit - my boots are now about three years old and have been cleaned in this way at least once a week.

	You can just leave your kit to soak in water mixed with shampoo, comes out ok!

	I think what started the stench was Rolling his (er...my mate that is) main up on the Lawn behind the club, it was raining hard and the grass was covered in rabbit droppings. The sail then went on to his kit bag in the back of the car. It then drained into his kit. ( He was tired and emotional at the time and just wanted to get home and dry) He's going to try some of these remedies but will probably end up Nuking them. Edited by GaznJax
