that must have been hard for you Isis .  But yeah i think you should stick to what you know for now.  I can say from experience that lasers actually have excellent racing all year round and then if you want to move on you'd be better informed and will probably make a better decision than you would now.

Il likely get rinsed for saying this as im sure most people on here have noticed my oppinion of lasers but id agreed with turnturtle.
Get what you feel comfortable with to start off and once youve sailed here for a few months you'll be able to make up your own mind on where you want to head next

Thanks for your posts, had a laser in mind anyway cos thats what I used to sail, just wanted to get a feel for what else is out there so will definatly check out RS 600 as well

Close racing is the main thing although it would be nice to be able to take a mate out on it

Since I have not have sailed in a large variaty of boats (just laser 1's and fireballs) I am fairly open to try out various classes, provided that they have an active fleet and you don't have to be too hot to sail them

get a 29er. there competetive, sociable and people of all ages from 14 - 25. there fast and great fun
I hate sailing at ponds where its shifty but i still sail at the worst of all the ponds!
