Really.

I was meant to be joining this winter with the other members from TSC that have joined but I have an alb now which needs adjustable shrouds fitting and it is not as easy as it sounds.  £300 worth of blocks after and I still have'nt worked it out.

I have to do it cause i'm doing the nationals next year in torbay and will get our arses kicked down wind and on the reach if we don't have it.

Sounds good - it was funny when I mentioned I was thinking about getting a 59er a nice orderly queue started forming...

I see on the main Y&Y site there a HEWL notice of race, I checked on the HISC site but couldn't find it.  If there is a handicap fleet for that it may be worth popping down for a play.

Mike T @ Bowmoor is first in queue - he is the other Phantom sailor.  We have been having really good racing recently. He gave me a good thrashing last Sunday morning

Its a fair cop! I am trying to reduce my fleet down to 2 though.  Victoria has not been showing much interest so I thought if I am going to keep a second boat I am going to go as fast as I can!

Russell you said about me not having many classes left to sail. It looks like you own one of each also.

Suits me fine, I campaign the Phantom so don't really have the time to take on another class with a regular circuit - but I would like to have a go on a decent stretch of water for a blast every now and then.  I believe Dave Hall is going to assess the interest of 59er owners and look at joining in the 9er events.  I would be up for 2 or 3 I should think.

Yeah I see your point, but the 59er is a little to pricey at the moment. I was looking at something fast and powerful that I can take to mixed fleet racing events and just have some fun with.

I sail on a river and there is not much chance of racing either a B14 or 59er on it. that is why I want something that is fairly cheap and my friend has just picked up a B14 for a grand.

Unfortunately I wouldn't bank on a 59er racing circuit building unless 9er events are held at a club where there are a few 59ers. This boat is superb at all in events and in certain wind strenghts unbeatable. If you can find a second hand one for around 4k they represent superb value for money. They are very robust with low running cost. Downwind is easier on the legs than a B14 which should be hiked where as the 59er is still rapid going fairly deep.
