Oh come on a Spinnaker pole should not break just because you heated the boat up when it was windy! Not a very good advert for the boat in my opinion.

Looking at the overall results, it is no surprise which a RS400 sailor is dominating again...

I'd agree if lots of poles on the same boat in the same conditions went but two went on the same boat in a fleet of 26 identical boats crewed by highly competitive people. Are you saying he was the only one pushing it? I don't think so.
What is this, just another excuse to have a pop at Topper and the Xenon...what a bore.

Do you think it is acceptable to have two spinnaker poles break in the same day with brand new kit?

I have NEVER had a pole break simply because I heated a boat up when it was windy!

(The only time I have ever had a pole break is when someone sailed into it doing around 15 knots!)

I don't know anything about what happened at the Endeavour trophy, but can you suggest what it is that might have caused one person to snap two new poles in one day Marine Boy? I've not heard of many snapping at all, so unless it was two duff poles it doesn't sound like they're strong enough..

Quite a number of things from poor setting onwards, depending on how its rgged. For one person to break two and no-one else to break any is kinda odd...

I know there are a ways of breaking a pole, but I'd be suprised if someone in a class new to them rigged anything radically different to everyone else! And I thought the Xenon was meant to be pretty rugged and take abuse like poor setup?

Looking at the calibur of the sailors do you honestly think there would be an issue with the setting/rigging?

In my experience novice sailors are far more likely to break things than experienced sailors...

Oh, dear, does humour have to be spelled out even clearer on this site for some people? Yes, I know who he is and what he has done - the fact that he appeared in a list which had been dismissed as poor quality amused me...
