Well it's a bit different to a Topper but on the theme of old boats winning races, Sunstone was built in 1964, had a highly successful career in RORC racing in the 80s and 90s, including 5 class wins in the Fastnet, and was a member of the winning England Commodore's Cup team in 1996, since when she has been blue-water cruising worldwide. http://www.sunstonesailing.com/backgrnd/backgrnd.html

Nope. The Topper was an established class - if not especially popular - for some time before the injection moulding happened. So it is a pukka production boat. The injection mouling was a changeto an existing class, not a brand new boat. |

Its looks like an early fibreglass one , not a prototype, thats how early ones were made we had one briefly for nippers sail no 2727 rare to make thousands of protos ! Some folk thought they would be quick with modern rig as hull stiffer and lighter.

I know the Maurader. I don't think the hull shape is much like a 200 myself it being a much flatter hull near the stern to give it more stability. In the past the reasoning was that trapeze boats had to be stable (look at the Contender). It used to be called the Mirror 14 and was a single trapeze boat but constructed (I believe) by the "stitch & glue" method first developed for the Mirror. I imagine it was quite light compared to its contemporary designs. The yardstick (and performance) must be similar to a Fireball.

One of the instructors down at our club has got his hands on a "Maurder" and he belives it was built around 1970 and it is in very good condition. Even though its 30years old, the hull design is very similar to that of an RS 200, hes got a few finishing touches to do and then hes going to put it thru its paces
