the topper centre main , in the long run makes the boat faster! having sailed through the transition from rear sheeted to centre, its easy to say that it makes the boat faster!, you can get the weigt ditributed better, and there are no rear sheeted mains to be found high in the rankings at all either, as for the new sail, its actually a smaller sail for lighter sailors to stop them having to reef. The centre main is well worth it, you should go for it, but do remember you need a longer tiller extension wehich is not included in the conversion kit, the sailing solution aluminium one is just as good as any carbon one btw and its about half the price, id strongly recomend it aswell as going for the holt centre main option , it used to be that ronstan was better, but now with this years holt kit it actually is a better kit! or if you can afford it put together all the parts you need yourself and go for harken carbon blocks if you want top of the fleet spec. the conversion is alo easily done and take about half an hour to make the modification all in all. And the "gadgety" things do make a difference if they are the worlds spec, as they have the maximum purchase permitted making it easier to control the sails. hope this all helps

but yeh forgot to say, with sailing the one message would be that theres no substitute for time on the water practicing! so just go for it regardless of the situation.

why thank you, i hav it coz when i set up my email it was someting no one else had and is so bizzare i dont get junk.

my advice with gadgets lyk this is to sail without it until you know and can see how it helps.

classic example i sailed for years without a tiller extension till i worked out that i could sit farther out with one which would help me go faster.

ya catch my drift?

i second that motion, you can be told all sorts of things but the best way to learn them is to sail and discover how they work your self

Tell me how it goes with the new sail, b.n.s!!! Hope you have a great time, an don't fall in !! Not saying you're inexperienced!!! I agree with everyone so there's no point in me putting quotes, cos as they say "practise makes perfect" (yawwwn hehehe)!!!

lemeouttahere, that's a very interesting history to the name, mine just appeared out of nowhere 1 (fine, summers) day!!! haha

Hey chris, despite being very complicated, I actually understand what your sailing jargon means (round of applause for me here ), I've got the racing downhaul and the mainsheet block (is that a rachet?) and i can't wait to get out in proper wind to use them...mind you I could come back very, very wet!! haha!

Lol im sure you'll be fine !

Im pretty sure you will get some decnt wind soon! the last three topper training's have all been done in white horses !!!

Try and come down to the next topper training if you can, they normally hire a professional coach.

Whats ur name by the way?

if you are pretty small you might want to consider the new 6:1 downhaul, you dont need to buy a whole new system either, its just the old world style 1 with an extra clock at the top providing a cascade effect so the mod. will cost bout £8 to do really less if you dont want top spec kit
