why thank you, i hav it coz when i set up my email it was someting no one else had and is so bizzare i dont get junk.

my advice with gadgets lyk this is to sail without it until you know and can see how it helps.

classic example i sailed for years without a tiller extension till i worked out that i could sit farther out with one which would help me go faster.

ya catch my drift?

but yeh forgot to say, with sailing the one message would be that theres no substitute for time on the water practicing! so just go for it regardless of the situation.

the topper centre main , in the long run makes the boat faster! having sailed through the transition from rear sheeted to centre, its easy to say that it makes the boat faster!, you can get the weigt ditributed better, and there are no rear sheeted mains to be found high in the rankings at all either, as for the new sail, its actually a smaller sail for lighter sailors to stop them having to reef. The centre main is well worth it, you should go for it, but do remember you need a longer tiller extension wehich is not included in the conversion kit, the sailing solution aluminium one is just as good as any carbon one btw and its about half the price, id strongly recomend it aswell as going for the holt centre main option , it used to be that ronstan was better, but now with this years holt kit it actually is a better kit! or if you can afford it put together all the parts you need yourself and go for harken carbon blocks if you want top of the fleet spec. the conversion is alo easily done and take about half an hour to make the modification all in all. And the "gadgety" things do make a difference if they are the worlds spec, as they have the maximum purchase permitted making it easier to control the sails. hope this all helps

Cheers!!! U sound like a very experienced sailor - thanx sooooooooo much I needed a bit of encouragement lol!!! Nice to meet u francis how old are u??! I'm 14, ( sail no 41825)!!!!! If I spot you I'll give you a very embarrasing cheery wave haha!!!!

U're rite about the topper fleet being friendly - I had a really long chat with some random topper sailor when we were out on....er....Sunday, cos we were stuck there for about 20 mins with no wind !!!!

Some other poor souls started sinking too, cos they forgot to put the bung in!!!  (Not that im laughing or anything...)

I'll probably go on the start of half-term cos I'm doin a french exchange!!!

Who's Ed?

Yeah dont worry be confident you wont be disqualified quickly and think does it matter if you come last? Somebody has to come last dont they and if you are only just starting to race it may be you for a few races but then another beginner will come along and you will improve and move higher up the race results!!!!

How old are you? I sail a RED (not pink) topper 43011 with a sponsor on the sail so its hard to miss!

By the way some people at Chew are very competitive because its a competetive club so dont be put off by people luffing you round the mark the wrong way and loads of calls of 'starboard' , just do your best and eveyone will be encouraging.

Your lucky cos the Topper fleet is very friendly .

My names Francis by the way.......When you going down next?

I'd love to race but i just don't know where to start cos im so awful I'd probably be disqualified only seconds after the start gun !!!

Ah well, I'll just pootle round a bit on sundays and then see if I can widen my social circle down at chew!! The only person who talks to me at the mo is ed!!

Well, he's lovely company so I'm not complaining lol!!!

I wouldn't say it was quieter than a sunday... the first wednesday of this year had almost 100 boats for the evening race. had about 35 in the handicap fleet, same again in the laser fleet and about 20 in slow handicap. Was a good race apart from us in a rs800 almost ran a solo down

Mate, ANYONE at all can race on wednesday evening and its a great place to race because it is fairly quiet compared to sunday and there is some very good people but mot are average.

I Race a Topper with the fleet (43011) and sometimes bomb about in a fireball.

What do you sail there?
