Not yet...I think the seller may be having second thoughts about selling! I see they race at Hamble off 1059 with no spinnaker |

30 might be pushing ti a bit, but in my experience they're not particularly weight sensitive. If the wind's light, as with any boat, just get the body mass forward to lift the transom just clear of the water. |

you should be able to pick up a Rondar GRP alb for upto £2000 if your luck you could get one for about £500. They are a good boat with a nice helpfull class association. Good luck

looks like it will be a Kestral for use without a spinnaker.....or a GRP Albacore if I can find one cheap enough! Novice crew prohibts spinnaker use - at least for this season. Thanks for all your postings! I am crewing a Laser 2000 midweek (with an experienced helm) and think 26 - 30 stone is a bit heavy....any other comments? |

Bosuns do have a kite, but the RN boats rigging is ridiculous its faster to just two-sail!

Albacore, without a doubt. Strong, powerfull, stable and yet still suprisingly fast.
Great underated boat. |

26 - 30 stone (depending on the day of the week and the time of the year) seems to be an ideal weight for a Laser 2000. We started sailing one about 2 months ago and have had great fun - competitive in both light and strong winds. The boat can be great fun in the right winds, and is a boat where (in general) the helm has a little more to do than the crew, but the crew's ability on the kite sheet is vital to down-wind speed. There are some available 2nd hand, and they seem to hold their value well - but look out for heavily used examples from sailing schools. |
