Today it was about 23 knots gusting 30ish, we towed in quite a few people today aswell, although no huge amount of damage like saturday! Most of the fast boats left this morning and didn't bother with today.

Many ripped sails, several holey boats, several boats drifted on the the beach (well kind of smashed onto beach) with no one in it.. That kind of thing. Many collisions, several B14s lost their wings, it was carnage on the saturday! No one was expecting it.

Um, only one B14 lost a wing.

Buit yes, Saturday was pretty extreme stuff. A lot more than forecast, and not a day to rig your cunningham wrongly. Good fun though, till we gave up- at one point, we nearly mounted the A-Rater downwind.

Saw at least two boats brought in today with broken rigs- think it was an RS800 and a 29er. A lot of people stayed ashore (us included)- though six of the B14s headed out, and Nick Craig, who's only had one since November, managed fifth in the pursuit. One of our crews, who's sailed in big winds plenty, reckoned they were some of the strongest gusts she's experienced.

Pursuit course really did suit the 420s and the Moths, and to some extent the 29ers, a lot more than it suited the 49ers, B14s etc. A lot of two sail reaching for them, whilst the smaller boats could hold their kites better.

Comedy sight on the water of the weekend: the RS200 being sailed three up today.

Yeh ... The only time I saw them after they launched was when they actually came in ... the rest of the time, they were hidden behind clouds of spray!!!

Also --- Is there an " Andrews " who went, as when you signed off after the persuit, you were signed off for 13013 ... Which confused the race office a bit when I went up to sign off as " DNS " !!
