I've bought and sold a couple of boats recently.  Cheap Toppers/Picos/Lasers etc seem to be well in demand and sell quickly if priced well.   I picked up a very nice (and cheap) Pico for my daughter on ebay the other week, but I've also noticed some of the newer plastic fantastics bid to surprisingly low values on there too.  I also sold an Ent recently, which I thought was a reasonable boat at a sensible price, but it took months to shift and in the end I had to drop the price by perhaps a quarter. So the lesson I take from all this is that money is tight, the boats that are selling are those that are well priced, and anything that is over priced will take a long time to move.

Decided to sell our well used Topper at the weekend and it went last night.  As has been said before, it's very dependant on the boat and price range.  Not all doom and gloom though!

It has to be said that asking prices of RS400's seem to have fallen in the last year or so. Perhaps a bit of a glut in the used market, as several people around here have bought new ones after the re-vamp.
I don't really know what's happening in other classes.

Some boats are selling.
Some are probably worth significantly less than a year ago, due to money being tight for a lot of used boat buyers.

I have to say that the RS100 will probably have reduced the value of Vareos. The writing may not be on the wall yet, but we know what it will say. How many new ones have been sold this year?

ob1- very fond of it, would still be sailing it now (on the circuit) if it weren't for the knees!

BTW- the knee problem was the result of extended hiking flairing an old injury. It would be the same in any boat that required hiking all around the course- which unfortunately is what a spinnaker requires!

rogue mate it is a real shame that your knee problem came back but I hope you still have at least some fondness for the 100?  it does have pros and cons like all boats, but it is great fun and isn't all bad
